Chen-style Taiji Boxing is one of the oldest schools of Taiji Boxing, which originated in Wudang inner exercise, flourished in Chen Village, Wen County of Henan province during the later period of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty. Passed on from generation to generation by the family of Chen, improved on the basis of the original acts, it has developed into the first movement and the second movement today, which are different from each other in act, speed, strength, form, moving capacity, and difficulty.
There are 42 acts in the second movement of Chen-style Taiji Boxing, which are complex, fast, violent and springing, and among which there are running, hopping, jumping, escaping, attacking and other movements. It characterizes as quickness, hardness and jumping. Judging from the outside, it is not different from other boxings in its quickness, hardness and jumping, but in essence it has the characteristics of its own: to constantly spin the waist, turn back, twist forearm, rotate the shoulder, twist the ankle and kneels so as to form the integrated spiral actions in which one movement leads to all the movements, which can get the general effect of opening and freeing, closing and gathering, opening with closing and freeing with gathering. Because this boxing is quick in speed and strong in explosive force, it's suitable for the youth, the adults, and healthy people to practice.
